Remember your first time being a father? As the new baby comes, your life is filled with anxiety and worry. Will I be a good father? Will I be able to support the child? Will I break it?
Across our community, new fathers struggle with this every day. Now imagine being a father with no support structure, a father who may not have had a strong male influence in their lives, a father with no one to ask simple questions.
For many fathers, this is a way of life. For many, the pressure of fatherhood is too much; they run from their responsibilities and continue a cycle of broken families and lack of male influence.
Young Fathers of Central Florida is here to help those fathers. Targeting young men under the age of 21, the 501(c)(3) is geared to give any young father the skills and confidence they need to provide a lifetime of love and caring for their children.
The organization – the ONLY one providing services for young fathers in Central Florida – provides counseling, workshops and mentoring in basic parenting skills. It also provides a place where young fathers can get the answers they need – from how to child-proof a home to how to avoid shaken-baby syndrome.
Our goals are simple:
· IMPROVE the parenting skills of young Fathers.
· IMPROVE the physical, emotional and spiritual well being of young fathers.
· PREVENT adolescent males from becoming parents until they are ready.
· INCREASE educational and vocational opportunities available for young fathers in need.
· INCREASE community awareness on the IMPORTANCE of fatherhood and the social
problems of fatherless families.
